Professor of Ecosystem Management, Dept. of Environment, Aegean University, Greece Director, National Geographic Magazine, Greek Edition
(The lecture will be in Greek with short summaries in English)
The speaker will outline the current situation regarding the protection of the environment in Greece and will elaborate on forests, parks and other areas, which are the main focus of the environmental efforts. Key points of the lecture and slide presentation will include: Protected and non-protected ecosystem, national parks in elevations above 1000 meters, typical Greek Mediterranean-type vegetation with more than 6000 plant species, current reforestation efforts and the impact on existing Mediterranean flora and fauna (animal life). University rectors and professors, researchers, secondary education teachers, scholars, historians and journalists were mobilized to achieve the ''passing'' of the Greek language as official at all European and world forums.
The world linguistics conference held in Kavala, northern Greece, under the auspices of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was attended by university, academy and institute representatives from the United States and many European countries. All speakers said in their addresses that the initiative to internationalize the Greek language has already started to meet with a response
