Greece’s Foreign Policy Profile:

From Antagonist to Intermediary

The presentation will focus on (a) Greece’s employment of European Union and NATO mechanisms in the peaceful and consensual settlement of its disputes with Turkey and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; and (b) how the transformation of Greece into a stable/consolidated democracy and an advanced/liberalizing economy has permitted the development of a bipartisan strategic consensus (between New Democracy and PASOK) on major policy issues.  This includes bipartisan support for a normal and mutually advantageous Greek-American relationship.
