GoalsPrometheas is a social and cultural nonprofit organization created in 1978. Its goals are to promote the ideals of Hellenism, Hellecic culture, and to provide its members with a forum and mechanism to pursue matters of common interest.
StructurePrometheas is managed by an eleven-member board elected biannually.
AccomplishmentsHundreds of events have been organized over the last two decades. Most have been sponsored strickly by Prometheas, while others have been held in cooperation with various Hellenic organizations in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Due to Prometheas' leadership, Greek Independence Day is celebrated as a community-wide event in the Washington area. All Hellenic regional, professional, academic and student organizations participate actively making the celebration the largest and most important event of the year.
MembershipPrometheas is helping preserve our unique Hellenic heritage. You can also help by becoming a regular, dues-paying member of our society. Almost all the activities are admission free. Membership fee is only $30 per year (students $5).
