Prometheas has been organizing events for the Washington Metro Area
throughout its 20 years of existence. A selection of such events is listed
below.
You can also find the announcemnets of the most recent events by selecting from the

The members of PROMETHEAS believe that these events have enriched their lives, added to

in cooperation with the Press and Information Office of the Greek Embassy
presented editor Thanasis Maskaleris on “Preserving the Greek Heritage/The
Role of Literature” with a special tribute to Nikos Kazantzakis. (For more

- On Friday, October 29, 2004,
7:30 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Bethesda, MD Prometheas
presented an evening on “Reflections on the Athens 2004 Olympics”.
Professor Alexander Kitroeff will be the speaker and panel moderator of a
discussion among a number of Olympic volunteers. A video of the Olympics will

Celebration of the 184th Anniversary of
the Greek Independence at St. George Church in Bethesda, MD (see complete
announcement). This event, as always, was co-sponsored by many Hellenic
organizations of the Washington DC area and this year features Keynote Speaker
Dr. John Anton, Distinguished Professor of Greek Philosophy and Culture at the
University of South Florida, who will speak on “Missolonghi: The Impact on the
War of Independence and its Lessons’.
